Quote of the Day

Luther said, "Now we still have to do with a God who is veiled, for in this life we cannot meet God face to face. At the same time, the whole creation is a kind of 'face' or mask of God."
Commentary on Gal. 2:6, 1535; quote by Barth, CD I/1 p.168 [study ed. p.165]

Then Barth said, "This secularity, this twofold indirectness, is in fact an authentic and inalienable attribute of the Word of God itself. Revelation means the incarnation of the Word of God. But incarnation means entry into this secularity. We are in this world and are through and through secular. If God did not speak yo us in secular form, He would not speak to us at all. "
CD I/1, p.169 [p.166]
